Marketing to Chinese patients, for North American practices.

Medicine is where RedNexus started and where we have the most results: more than eight practices across the United States and Canada. We bring Chinese American and Chinese Canadian patients to your practice through Xiaohongshu, WeChat and advertising, answer their questions around the clock and book them in, within platform rules and the law.

What makes healthcare different.

Patient acquisition in Chinese follows the same principles as any market, with four differences that shape everything we do.

  • The rules are strict

Xiaohongshu limits medical claims and contact details, and U.S. and Canadian law governs patient privacy and testimonials. Accounts have to be planned for both from the first post.

  • Patients research for weeks

A procedure is a considered decision. Patients read first-hand experiences, compare doctors and ask detailed questions before they book.

  • Questions come after hours

More than 60% of the inquiries our concierge handles arrive after 6 p.m. or on weekends, when most front desks are closed.

  • Families decide together

Parents, children and relatives often weigh in. Content that answers the family’s questions, in Chinese, shortens the decision.

Results from practices.

Most of our medical clients came to us by referral from another practice or a supplier. Each case study states the period and source of its figures.

What the program includes.

Scoped to your practice in a written proposal. Most practices take the full program; some start with content and the concierge.

Doctor-led education

Your doctors explain who is and is not a candidate, what to expect and how to choose, in posts and short video.

A compliant account structure

Separate educational, official and service accounts, so promotional activity never puts the main account at risk.

Patient stories, with consent

A process for collecting and presenting real patient experiences with written permission.

24/7 concierge and booking

Replies in Chinese within minutes, screening for candidacy questions, booking and reminders. On average, inquiries that book do so within two hours.

Advertising within medical rules

Xiaohongshu, Meta and Google campaigns planned around each platform’s healthcare policies.

Front-desk follow-up

Coaching for consultants on following up with patients who have not booked, and clear handoff notes in English.

Rules, law and our part.

Platform rules come first in practice. Xiaohongshu restricts medical claims, before-and-after promises and contact details in posts, and enforces this strictly for practices outside mainland China. Meta and Google have their own healthcare advertising policies.

The law sets its own requirements. In the United States, publishing a patient’s name or photo without written authorization can breach HIPAA: a Los Angeles-area physical therapy provider paid $25,000 to settle such a case with the Department of Health and Human Services. The Federal Trade Commission’s rule on reviews and testimonials, in effect since October 21, 2024, bans fake reviews and reviews bought with incentives tied to a positive opinion.

Our part is experience in planning for both. Your compliance and legal advisers have the final word, and nothing here is legal advice. No agency can guarantee that every post will be approved or that an account will never be restricted.

Common questions

Which specialties do you work with?

Our deepest experience is in vision correction, ophthalmology and medical aesthetics. The same approach fits dental implants, fertility, dermatology, concierge medicine and senior care.

Can you publish patient stories and testimonials?

Only with the patient’s written permission, and only in a way your compliance adviser approves. We also follow the platforms’ own rules on medical content, which are often stricter than the law.

Do you handle patient health information?

The concierge collects only what is needed to book: name, contact details, the service of interest and preferred times. We agree with your practice what may be discussed in social messages, and medical questions go to your clinical team.

Our doctors do not speak Chinese. Can this still work?

Yes. Interviews can be presented by a host who speaks Chinese, educational content can be produced from your doctors’ existing material, and our concierge handles the conversation up to the booking.

How soon do practices see consultations?

It depends on the specialty and the material available. One New York practice booked about ten procedures in its first 60 days, and our first vision-correction client received more than 480 leads in three months.
